I didn't make any changes, but now it only seems to load FreeMCBoot in about 1 out of every 10 tries or so. As for using freemcboot, a standard FMCB memory card just isn't compatible with your model of ps2, so you won't be able to make that work. I've seen some people say they they've gotten freemcboot working in conjunction with their modchips on 9000 models, but you'll need to get your modchip working first to explore that.
